Baba Marta, National Day, Palm Sunday, Christmas, Easter, Enyovden, etc. are the traditions of Bulgaria. Baba Marta, which is an ancient tradition of Bulgaria, is celebrated on 1st of March. On this day the people of Bulgaria gift their friends and relatives with martenitsa (a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn). On this particular day the Bulgarians have the custom of putting martenitsa on their dresses. Baba Marta represents the ending of winter and the arrival of spring. The 3rd of March is the National Day of Bulgaria on which the independence day of Bulgaria is celebrated. Kulkeri is another Bulgarian tradition, which is celebrated to assure the arrival of Spring.
