Folk Choral Groups
While not thought of as instruments in the normal sense, vocal music is a major part of all cultures. (it certainly is the most handy musical instrument available)
Pictured at right is a photograph (cir. 1900-1910) of Mitrofan Pyatnitsky and his chorus. The chorus was named after him upon his death. The Pyatnitsky chorus now numbers over 100 members and performs internationally.
There have been choral groups from many regions taking various forms from small sister or family units to the very large state sponsored organizations.
